About the speaker
“Chris van Waes Juwelier & Antiquair” started in Poeldijk (South Holland) in 2002, with a collection consisting largely of antique furniture. Since then the collection has expanded to include old and antique jewellery, decorative antiques, tableware and silver objects. Chris has followed courses at the Schoonhoven School where he graduated as a jeweller and valuer. At present, he has a fine collection of vintage and antique jewellery, with a special
passion for pearls!
About the lecture
The lecture will be in two parts:
– Chris van Waes will talk about precious metals and pearls and then focus on precious gemstones. He will tell us about various alloys of gold and silver, the definition of a gemstone and gemstone cuts.
– Chris van Waes will examine up to 10 items of jewellery brought in by IWC members and comment on their merits with regard to:
art or kitsch – composition, period, designer and other details.
YOU ARE INVITED TO BRING A PIECE OF JEWELLERY, PEARLS OR SILVER TO BE EXAMINED.
If you would like to bring an item please contact Jeanne Thoret, firstname.lastname@example.org
Items not registered via Jeanne will
not be examined!
