Special Events in the Past: International Music Festival,
April 4, 2009
The Atrium, in The Hague was the venue for the musical
extravaganza which was organized to celebrate the Clubs 30th Jubilee Year.
Musicans from around the world gathered to make this a truly special occassion.
The Guest of Honour was Mr. van Aartsen, the Mayor of The Hague who attended
the event together with his wife, our honorary President, Mrs Henriette
van Aartsen. The Mayor officially opened the Festival.
There were different stages, at different locations within The Atrium. Some
of the artists were the Gamelan Ensemble from Indonesia and a spectacular
performance of Kung Fu by Mr. Fei from China. The very charming violinist
from Bosnia Herzegovina - Melika Hadzic gave an electrifying performance.
From Cameroon, Jean Dikoto Mandengue had guests on the floor in no time.
Mrs. Hasida, the belly dancer from Algeria, also mesmerized guests with
a beautiful performance which was appreciated by all those present.
The Raadzaal was set aside for classical presentations. The performances
included the young pianist Javier Rameix from Venezuela, Nika Zlataric,
Ania Katynska and Florenicia Bardavid from Croatia, the powerful singer
Dorinak Yankova accompanied on the piano by our Club member Elena Trapkova
from Bulgaria allreceived roaring applause. The pianist Gustavo Corrales
Romero from Cuba, Carlors Asfora and Kees Gelderblom from Brazil and the
Amsterdam Turkish Classical Music Ensemble were all amazing artists. In
total over 20 countries sent musicians to support this event.
Throughout the evening guests enjoyed sumptuously delicacies from various
countries.
