Previous Charities:Kenya Charity Lunch
On Thursday 28th May, the IWC members were treated to
their first African luncheon at Sligro/ VEN. The atmosphere on arrival was
upbeat and vibrant as the embassy had invited a traditional African band
to entertain us during the course of the lunch. The African ladies came
out in their beautiful traditional bright coloured outfits from different
parts of Africa which added to the mood of the afternoon. Several African
ambassadors attended. H.E. Prof Mrs Ruthie Rono thanked all the guests for
attending and talked about Kenya with great passion and enthusiasm.
She then invited us all to the buffet style lunch.
The two chefs Mr Kenneth Marube and Mr John Mbuna did an outstanding job
with guests marveling at the different flavours, colours and textures of
what is very much the Kenyan cuisine. The chefs talked us through the different
dishes as we moved along the buffet tables.
All the proceeds raised was sent to the Belgut Rural
Women SACCO Development Programme who assist orphans who are affected by
HIV/Aids.
